Disc Identification Method April 1, 2002 Outline of Disc Identification Method In the Disc Identification Method, a unique code is assigned to each media manufacturer and their media varieties. By handling this code appropriately each drive can give optimized writing condition for every disc. By doing this better interchangeability between CD-R discs and CD-R drives can be attained. The Disc Identification Method is specified and managed by TWG1 of the CDs21 Solutions( formerly Orange Forum PWG1). Application for a new code is accepted, which is requested by a CD-R licensee.
