The Orange Forum was organized in April 1996 for the purpose of promoting the development of CD-Recordable and CD-Rewritable equipment and discs, and related hardware and software products. Membership in the Orange Forum is open to organizations engaged in the manufacture and sales of the CD-Recordable- and CD Rewritable-related products as stated above. Annual membership dues are 300,000 yen.

What is the usable life of CD-R media?
This varies depending on the conditions of usage and storage. Since there are also variations between manufacturers' products, we recommend that you inquire directly to the respective media manufacturers.
What is the status of compatibility between CD-R/RW media and drives produced by different manufacturers?
The system of writing to CD-R media is determined by the Orange Book. Concerning the combinations of CD-RW drives and media, the respective manufacturers are giving full consideration to these points when launching their products on the market. It has been recognized that no problems exist with combinations of drives and media. Nevertheless, due to [differences in] drive conditions, media usage and other factors, the possibility of problems occurring cannot be ruled out. When and if you encounter such problems, it would be appreciated if you report it to the manufacturer of the drive, including such details as included below.
